Coach Prime’s Colorado football team is “at somewhat of a low point” during the initial season of the Deion Sanders era following a stunning 46-43 double overtime loss to Stanford according to Buffaloes Wire’s Jack Carlough — who sees there being an upswing in the final five games of the season against UCLA, Oregon State, Arizona, Wazzu, and Utah.

“Although the Buffs are at somewhat of a low point in head coach Deion Sanders’ first season after blowing a 29-point lead to Stanford, there are still plenty of reasons to be optimistic about Colorado’s final five games,” Carlough prefaced before saying, “Two-way star Travis Hunter is back healthy, quarterback Shedeur Sanders is in the midst of a historic season and Colorado’s talented freshmen now have their feet wet.”

Certainly, all of Carlough’s points are valid. Travis Hunter’s absence was sorely missed against Oregon, USC, and Arizona State, but the opportunities afforded to Cormani McClain (at cornerback) and Omarion Miller (at wideout) in No. 12’s absence was a silver lining for a Buffs squad that now has Hunter back.

‘Of course’ Colorado football stars showed up at Nuggets’ opening night against Lakers in Denver

Hunter and Shedeur Sanders showed up to the Denver Nuggets’ opening night matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers on October 24; the night of the Nuggets’ championship banner-raising at the Ball Arena. Regarding the pair’s appearances, Denver Sports’ Will Petersen said that “of course” that’d be the case for “the two biggest player names from Boulder.”

“The Nuggets were getting ready to receive their rings and raise their first championship banner before hosting the Lakers when the guys were spotted,” Petersen prefaced before saying, “Of course the two biggest player names from Boulder were going to be at Ball Arena.”

It’d be a long shot for Hunter and Sanders to win a championship with the Buffs unless Colorado had itself an offseason for the ages.

CU is certainly no stranger to having such, however.
