Colorado star’s sister not living up to nickname with Buffs hoops
The sister of Colorado football star Shedeur Sanders and fellow Buffaloes leader Shilo Sanders, Shelomi, is not living up to her nickname with the University of Colorado’s women’s basketball team — which is a good thing considering it’s “Bossy” and she’s been anything but according to women’s hoops head coach J.R. Payne.
“Well, she hasn’t been really bossy with us,” Payne said when asked about her nickname (h/t KDVR). “But Shelomi is doing great. Shelomi came in the middle of the year last year, which is always difficult to transfer from one program to another. And the team loved her immediately. She’s got a great personality. She works hard. She brings life to the party on a daily basis, so to speak.”
Bossy’s explanation for why she caught on like wildfire with the women’s Buffaloes team was straight from the book of Coach Prime.
“I just give out energy and you know, I’m always gonna smile, always gonna bring good vibes, always gonna laugh,” Shelomi prefaced before drawing from her dad with the following “Prime Time” line, “That’s just me being me.”
Coach Prime explains relationship between his star Colorado football sons and daughter Shelomi
In a very relatable moment with fathers across America, Coach Prime explained the relationship between Shelomi and her brothers.
“You’ve got to understand, my baby girl is my heart,” Coach Prime said. “I love all my kids, but I love them differently. Bossy is my baby girl. She’s my heart. She has a witness protection program with her brothers. She don’t ever date, she probably won’t get married until she’s about 40. They don’t play.”
It’s evident that the Sanders family is protective of each other; perhaps overly so at times, with Shilo’s challenge to Oregon before the two teams’ September 23 Pac-12 clash after the trash talk done by Ducks head coach Dan Lanning to the Buffs program leading up to it springing to mind.
