Entire Colorado roster ‘should strive to be’ like returning transfer
The entire Colorado football roster should strive to be like returning transfer Savion Washington according to Ralphie Report’s Sam Metivier — who projects a return for the offensive tackle against Oregon State on November 4.
“While we likely won’t see Washington during the UCLA game this Saturday, next week’s home game against Oregon State seems like a real possibility for the Colorado big man’s return,” Metivier prefaced before saying, “It sounds like Savion will make his return sooner rather than later, which is great news.
“Going forward, Colorado’s players can use Washington as someone who they should strive to be. If the Buffs do come out of the gates full of heart and passion in Pasadena this Saturday, UCLA could be on upset watch. Hopefully we will see a rested and reinvigorated Colorado squad this week, both physically and emotionally.”
Colorado football OL compared to Browns rookie out of Ohio State
The Akron Beacon Journal’s George Thomas compared Washington to Cleveland Browns rookie Dawand Jones, a fourth-round pick out of Ohio State who has an eerily similar background to the fellow St. Vincent-St. Mary product.
“At 6-foot-8, 320-pounds, (Washington’s) frame is reminiscent of Browns rookie right tackle Dawand Jones,” Thomas prefaced before saying, “The similarities don’t end there. Washington also played basketball for the Irish as Jones did for his high school team.
“Washington won all-district honors, made the Beacon Journal’s ‘Best of Preps’ team and was St. Vincent-St. Mary’s offensive lineman of the year in 2019.”
Washington practiced on October 23 but didn’t get the official go-ahead from Coach Prime in the days afterward. A return against UCLA would provide a tremendous boost following the bye-week, but there’s no need to rush him back with the 2024 season now the focus following the Stanford loss all but eliminating a New Year’s Six bowl game this year.
