The Colorado football offense looked more ineffective in the first half against Oregon State on November 4 than it has since the last time the Buffs played a program from the Beaver State; a 35-0 first-half drubbing against the Ducks in Eugene.
Unfortunately, these were not the winds of change Coach Prime envisioned when he handed the play-calling reins to the promoted Pat Shurmur, now a co-offensive coordinator with the demoted Sean Lewis.
Shedeur Sanders, still showing the ill effects of a beating taken at the hands of UCLA’s defensive line and their seven sacks on the son of Coach Prime, completed just 11/19 passes and missed the mark on several screen passes. 11 rushing yards were produced overall in the first half hour of play against Oregon State.
The Buffs offense looked worse than it has in a long time.

Shurmur’s coaching tenure couldn’t have started off on rockier footing. There was skepticism about the coaching switch-up from Deion Sanders, but the greatest fears of what Shurmur could and/or couldn’t do were fully realized.
“Deion’s totally going to demote Pat Shurmur in the locker room, isn’t he?” facetiously asked a notable CFB account.
“A massive mistake promoting Pat Shurmur to OC – sincerely all Broncos fans,” said an “I told you so” Denver Broncos news account.
“The Pat Shurmur experiment is going exactly how you thought it would…” said another “I told you so” poster.
“Pat Shurmur could’ve run out the clock there,” prefaced an angry fan before saying, “He didn’t. Can he be dismissed at halftime?”
