This season for Colorado football has been a success when compared to last season; and while we’re at it, most of the campaigns of the last two decades besides a handful. In 2022, Colorado was only a one-win team, but as of right now, CU’s now in the mix for a bowl game.

Obviously, despite the great success of Coach Prime Time Deion Sanders, there have been issues. None have been bigger than the running back room, which Ralphie Report’s Ryland Scholes called “a mess.”

“Simply put, the Buffs’ run game has been a mess this season,” Scholes prefaced before saying, “Colorado’s offense has had extreme trouble moving the ball all season and this week should be no different. The running back room took a hit this week when Alton McCaskill decided to redshirt for the remainder of the season, meaning the Buffs lost their biggest and most physical threat on the ground. The Buffs only ran the ball nine times the entire game last week and they’ll probably employ a similar game plan this week. Betting on Colorado’s running backs is just too risky of a bet and one I’d stay away from if possible.”

Analyst dead-on about lacking Colorado football running back room

Scholes is right on the money here.

The production from the running back position has not been enough to make a difference on offense. This needs to be an area that Colorado improves next season as they look to take their program to the next level.

Once the running back room is addressed by Coach Prime and Co. in the transfer portal, Colorado will become a serious threat in the world of college football for the first time since 2016 — and, I suppose, a Linsanity-esque run during the first two and a half weeks of the 2023 season.
