Pac-12 QB rankings No. 6: Cameron Ward

  • Passing yards: 2,773
  • TD: 17 INT: 4
  • Comp: 68.8%
  • YPA: 7.9

I’m not sure that any quarterback should be expected to shoulder the load that Cameron Ward is for Washington State. He still hasn’t attempted as many passes as Shedeur Sanders has, but 349 attempts is a very high passing volume.

As a team, the Cougars are eighth in pass attempts and 127th in rushing attempts. Without a sense of balance, Ward is still able to produce the 47th-ranked offense and managed 6.1 yards per play which ranks 49th in the country.

Ward has increased his completion percentage and cut down on turnovers compared to last year. He started the season looking like one of the best quarterbacks in the country but has come back down to earth during Washington State’s five-game losing streak. The Cougars have failed to reach double-digits in two of those five losses, including the 10-7 Week 10 loss to Stanford.
