Star Colorado transfer ‘good future fit’ for fallen former great NFL franchise
Shedeur Sanders always talks about his mentor, Tom Brady, and the impact No. 12 has on his mindset; dubbing his late-game, comeback-focused mentality “Brady Mode,” which he’s had to utilize this season. It makes sense then that according to BuffsBeat’s Josh Tolle, the star Colorado football transfer would be a “good future fit” for Brady’s long-time fallen formerly great NFL franchise: the New England Patriots, which is facing uncertainty under center.
“Shedeur always talks about going in ‘Brady Mode’ and might be a good future fit for the franchise his mentor helped to build over the past two decades,” Tolle wrote. “The Patriots will likely be in need of help under center with Mac Jones reportedly ‘falling out of favor’ with team management in New England.”
Tolle believes it’d be a “night and day” difference between Sanders and current Patriots starting quarterback Mac Jones.
“It would be a complete night and day scenario between Jones and Sanders,” Tolle prefaced before saying, “CU’s ‘Grown’ QB is one of the best decision-making passers and rarely makes mistakes on the field. That could be why the Patriots are interested in taking a shot on Sanders.”
Shedeur Sanders not leaving Colorado football for 2024 NFL draft
Unfortunately, Patriots scout J.T. Hill’s visit to Boulder — the impetus for Tolle talking about Sanders in a New England uniform — won’t move the needle for No. 2 replacing Jones in the next year.
Coach Prime has asserted that both of his sons, Shilo and Shedeur, are sticking around in Colorado for at least another year. And with the injury issues that Shedeur is visibly suffering from due to a lack of pass protection from his offensive line, it’s possible, if not downright probable, that Sanders could elevate his draft stock with another year with the Buffs.
Poor Patriots. They’ll have to wait for Shedeur another year — that is, if they don’t take immediate action to fix the QB position during the upcoming offseason.
