Given the recent losing streak Colorado football has been on, every fanbase that nearly saw Coach Prime hired but didn’t is now pondering whether that was the right call based on their team’s own performances.

One of the more notable programs to have been linked to Deion Sanders during the post-2022 season hiring cycle was Auburn, which instead hired Hugh Freeze and is now 6-4 and riding a three-game win streak after a 48-10 Week 11 blowout of Arkansas.

The War Rapport’s Dustin Michaud taunted Coach Prime for his Buffs’ issues this season, claiming that Auburn’s “hire Deion” crowd has been quiet since Colorado started what has now been a four-game losing streak following their November 11 loss to Arizona.

Michaud got mixed reactions to his post, drawing out those who agree with him and those who believe it’s too early to tell.

“I love Deion but I wanted Freeze for years,” one poster prefaced before saying, “Plus auburn doesn’t fit Prime.”

“I admit I was intrigued by a Deion hire but for long-term program stability, I think we got our guy,” another poster wrote. “Hugh loves Auburn and understands what an opportunity he’s been given. Some of his family was already there and this is a chance to be part of their lives too.”

“No,” bluntly said another poster. “(Deion’s) not a good fit for us. I’m giving Hugh Freeze a chance. We have a lot of rebuilding to do after Harsin.”

“I’m not going to judge him yet, I wanna see what he does when he gets his O-line, D-line, and stack a few more (blue-chip recruits) like the rest of these teams first,” said another poster.

“We probably would be a one-loss team with him,” another poster prefaced before saying, “At least it wouldn’t have taken him 70% of the season to pick a QB.”

“Chill, Deion still him,” correctly pointed out another.
