After a very hot start to the season, Colorado football has faced some very tough losses. After opening up the season at 3-0, Colorado has fallen to 4-6, with bowl eligibility. It has been a tough couple of weeks with very heartbreaking losses.

Still, Coach Prime has done a lot to turn the fortunes of Colorado around this season. Let’s not forget, the Buffs were coming off a one-win season so this has been a successful season for the program regardless of what happens against Wazzu or Utah.

During the offseason, many moves are going to need to be made for Colorado to take that leap to the next level.

Colorado football must rebuild several position groups

With Colorado being set at the QB spot and the receiving corps, the Buffs will have to prioritize getting a strong offensive line to allow plays to, well, play out without the pocket quickly collapsing. They’ll need to get great blockers in the transfer portal for Shedeur Sanders’ sake.

Another big target for Colorado football, as they move into next season, is to get more help at the running back position. With teams knowing that they can focus their defense on the pass, it limits what Colorado can do offensively. Once they bring in RBs into the roster that can create huge plays on the ground, Sanders will improve further under center.

Lastly, Colorado needs to shore up the defensive trenches. The secondary is far from a problem, (though it can improve) but there is plenty of room for improvement up front considering the brilliance QBs have displayed against CU this season.

Fix these problems, and Colorado could have a team worthy of the “Prime Time” buzz Deion Sanders has brought to Boulder since his December 2022 arrival. Don’t do so, and the disappointments of 2023 will persist.
