Saturday Blitz’s Chris Peterson doesn’t believe Coach Prime will leave the Colorado football program for the SEC “just yet” — listing Deion Sanders as one of his “3 head coaching candidates Texas A&M football should avoid.”

“Coach Prime is on the watch list for Texas A&M football and I’ll admit I thought the move made sense,” Peterson prefaced before saying, “But after watching Coach Prime do his thing at Colorado, I just don’t know if he would jump ship for the SEC just yet.”

Peterson believes Sanders would be overwhelmed by SEC competition considering his quarterback son, Shedeur, has bailed out the Buffs during the 2023 season with comeback wins against Colorado State and ASU.

“Colorado had to rally to win three of those four games, so if Shedeur Sanders wasn’t playing quarterback, this team would probably have the same record as last season,” Peterson wrote.

Coach Prime has ‘no interest’ in leaving Colorado football for Texas A&M

According to BuffsBeat’s Josh Tolle, Coach Prime has “no interest” in leaving Colorado for Texas A&M — one of three SEC openings along with Arkansas and Mississippi State, but the only realistic option in the conference to poach Sanders — and wouldn’t get the control he’d want anyway.

“Sanders has no interest in coaching at Texas A&M at this point, according to sources,” Tolle wrote. “Let’s say for the sake of conversation that Prime would consider leaving Boulder for College Station. Texas A&M has money but won’t give Sanders absolute control of the program and that’s a problem.”

All signs point to Sanders coaching his sons Shedeur and Shilo for one last ride, with Travis Hunter likely also in his final year of eligibility, in 2024 before that group takes their talents to the NFL and the coaching carousel once again includes the ex-Jackson State HC after next season.
