Another head coaching job opens, and another analyst projects Coach Prime to leave Colorado football to fill it. On November 19, it was the vacancy created by Syracuse’s firing of Dino Babers that had FS1’s Nick Wright linking Deion Sanders to Central New York.

The obvious question was asked just 20 minutes after ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Babers’ dismissal: Coach Prime to Syracuse? Wright added, “Make it happen!”

X wasn’t all in agreement with that statement. Far from it, actually.

There were, predictably, varied opinions about the prospect of Sanders taking his whole family with him to move across the country and take a job in a conference that’s arguably below the Big 12 in notoriety in the year 2024. Sure, the ACC has a College Football Playoff winner (Clemson), but the Big 12 is still a preferable brand at this point; with Florida State and Clemson among the schools that have considered some conference realignment themselves.

“Can’t see Coach Prime moving, he’s too invested in his Colorado players,” said one poster, whose opinion was not a popular one as evidenced by the dissenting opinions below it.

“Why would you pay someone to win four games a year,” said one Coach Prime non-believer.

“His sons still have a year of eligibility left and can’t transfer again without sitting out,” prefaced one realist before saying, “He’s coached his kids at every level and I don’t see him leaving them in Colorado while he takes another job. He’s staying.”

“Syracuse isn’t more attractive than Colorado,” said another Rocky Mountain appreciator.

“Prime in the Dome? Let’s go!” exclaimed an Orange fan.

“Syracuse was a year too late for that! They had a chance,” said another, who felt Babers’ firing came too late.
