Coach Prime spoke out on November 21 to give his take on the modern recruiting process after OL Talan Chandler flipped to Mizzou, and the Colorado football head coach ruffled feathers with what many college football fans view as a hypocritical take on recruiting.

“A kid ain’t even faithful to his girlfriend, you think he gonna be faithful to a school? That’s an emotional thing,” Sanders said during a Utah game week presser (h/t DNVR’s Jake Schwanitz). “What I wish the NCAA would do is if you commit somewhere you can’t go on other visits. One thing about it, we’re not an ATM. That’s not gonna happen here. You’re not coming here to get rich unless you’re coming here to go to the NFL and get your degree.”

Needless to say, Coach Prime’s own past was thrown in his face by a slew of posters on the X platform after that statement.

X detests Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders’ take on modern recruiting

Posters were all over the place clowning Coach Prime for the take, with Dabo Swinney, Brian Kelly, and Eli Drinkwitz’s names all being evoked to drive the points home.

“Eliah Drinkwitz shoving Deion Sanders in a locker and causing another destructive rant was not on my 2023 bingo card,” said one Mizzou fan page.

“Wow, Travis Hunter, Brian Kelly would NEVER begrudge you flipping your commitment, or even entering the portal for that matter! You seein this??” asked another poster in disbelief.

“Prime (is) sounding a lot like Dabo right here,” said another, calling out Sanders for his lack of interest in getting into bidding wars for top blue-chip recruits.

One poster tried to get Coach Prime to understand that his own jump from Jackson State to Colorado football was not too dissimilar to what Sanders is criticizing these recruits for.

“Then maybe the NCAA should’ve made you stay at JSU until the end of your contract instead of letting you jump to CU,” the poster prefaced before saying, “It’s the same if not a BIGGER commitment than these TEENAGERS make.”

Another couldn’t believe Coach Prime would make these statements considering he brought his two sons, Shedeur and Shilo, 5-star Miami flip Cormani McClain, and his highest-profile addition, No. 1 overall 2022 recruit Travis Hunter, to Boulder by those exact means.

“How hypocritical can you get?? This been your whole bag since you started,” the poster prefaced before reminding Sanders, “You got Travis, Cormani and your sons the same way.”

One poster came to the party just to mock Coach Prime’s attire.

“In fairness, taking a nice long look in the mirror probably doesn’t have quite the same effectiveness with shades on,” the poster wrote.

What do you think? Is Coach Prime hypocritical, or is he right in his comments about modern recruiting?
