Star Colorado transfer advised to sit out against Utah in Week 13
Colorado football quarterback Shedeur Sanders was advised to “rest his weary soul” in Week 13 during the Buffs’ finale against Utah by BuffsBeat’s Mark McIntosh — who suggested CU’s roster take the likely 4-8 season on the chin and understand that winning was never going to happen in droves immediately.
“This is a challenging moment for the celebrated coach and his band of Buffs,” McIntosh prefaced before saying, “Its leader, quarterback Shedeur Sanders is banged up, has been for a long time and should rest his weary soul. The season culminates in a difficult environment Hall of Fame coach Bill McCartney, and Sanders too, call ‘tough sledding.’
“For the players, coaches and staff of the Colorado Buffaloes? Responsible for preserving the pride and tradition and realizing it cannot be entrusted to the timid and weak?” Remember, Rome was not built in a day. Neither will a once downtrodden program striving to rise from the ashes and return to college football relevance.”
Shedeur Sanders questionable for Colorado football season finale against Utah
Coach Prime provided a less-than-encouraging injury update on Shedeur’s status for the Buffs’ Week 13 matchup against the Utes in Salt Lake City; claiming that it’s a “day-to-day situation” for the QB.
“Shedeur is not feeling well right now,” Coach Prime said on November 21. “It’s a day-by-day situation with Shedeur. We’re praying that he gets healthy and he’s able to play because he is who he is. When he’s on the field, we have a tremendous chance to win.”
Without Shedeur, CU’s coaching staff would have to turn to true freshman Ryan Staub, who has completed 6/16 passes in two appearances against Wazzu and Nebraska in 2023. Needless to say, a Shedeur-less Buffs squad would be even bigger underdogs, perhaps significantly bigger, against a Utah team coming off an embarrassing 42-18 beatdown at the hands of Arizona.
