North Texas transfer wideout Ja’Mori Maclin, who Coach Prime’s Colorado football program offered on November 30, could be a replacement for departing WR1 Xavier Weaver, according to Buffaloes Wire’s Jack Carlough.

“Describing Maclin as a big-play WR would be an understatement as he had reception longs of 80, 59, 64, 54 and 49 yards in games this season,” Carlough prefaced before saying, “While the Buffaloes currently don’t lack depth at WR, someone will have to fill the shoes of Xavier Weaver, who finished with just under 1,000 receiving yards in his final college season.”

Weaver’s most likely replacement on the WR totem pole is probably already on the roster; with Travis Hunter having obvious major boom potential and Omarion Miller potentially stepping into a bigger role. Weaver’s long-time teammate at USF and one year in Boulder, Jimmy Horn Jr., can’t be left out of the conversation either.

With that said, Maclin has the kind of skillset that Shedeur Sanders could do business with through the air. Perhaps WR1 business.

South Carolina can be Coach Prime’s Colorado football program’s primary roadblock for Ja’Mori Maclin

Gamecock Digest’s Andrew Lyon believes South Carolina can be a “program to watch” moving forward in Maclin’s recruitment.

“Ja’Mori originally followed in his older cousin’s footsteps and went to Missouri in 2020, but after two seasons decided to transfer to North Texas,” Lyon wrote. “Maclin has started in 13 games and played in 26 matchups over the past two seasons, and put together a banner year in this Fall, racking up 57 receptions for 1,004 yards and eleven touchdowns. With the chance to get back in the SEC, and maybe get some sort of retribution over Missouri, the Gamecocks could be a program to watch here moving forward.”

If anyone can upstage the SEC, it’s Deion Sanders; who’s reeled in flips from Miami and Nebraska, proving that no program has enough money on hand to stop the “Prime Effect” from reaching recruits.
