It’s unclear if Colorado football offensive linemen Jack Bailey and Savion Washington will remain with the program given the likely departure of Buffs offensive line coach Bill O’Boyle according to BuffZone’s Brian Howell.

“Starting guard Landon Bebee has exhausted his eligibility, while Christian-Lichtenhan and Wells are now on the move,” Howell prefaced before saying, “That leaves guard Jack Bailey and tackle Savion Washington left, as far as starters go. Both of them transferred to CU from Kent State to follow offensive coordinator Sean Lewis and line coach Bill O’Boyle.

“Earlier this week, Lewis took the head coach job at San Diego State and it’s unlikely O’Boyle will return. With that, it’s unclear if Bailey and/or Washington will return to CU.”

Coach Prime essentially wrote off Colorado football offensive line midseason

With a third of the season remaining, Coach Prime publically announced that the offensive line was not up to snuff and that the group would be replaced via the transfer portal during the offseason.

“The line has to improve,” Sanders said (h/t FOX Sports). “It’s a struggle to run the ball, and we got to figure that out because now you’re one-dimensional, and it’s easy to stop a team when they’re one-dimensional. And that’s who we are at this point in time. … The big picture, you go get new linemen. That’s the picture, and I’ma paint it perfectly.”

These comments rightfully got flack at the time due to them almost reading like an anti-endorsement, and they could scare off offensive line recruits who don’t want to be scapegoated if Shedeur Sanders continues to get hit in 2024 during the Buffs’ move to the Big 12.

Deion Sanders is banking on the recruits with the right attitudes responding the right way to the challenge CU is at the moment for offensive linemen, but many of that caliber of recruit are likely going to be outbid by schools that, unlike Coach Prime’s University of Colorado program, are willing to invest in NIL.
