Colorado finds itself in a slump, dropping back-to-back conference matchups after stumbling out of the gate each time.

The Buffs desperately need to inject some first-half urgency into their game plan, or else we are going to see the same story pan out game after game.

Colorado fell behind by up to 24 and 21 points in their last two conference games, mounting second-half comebacks that fell short both times.

We know Tad Boyle can't be pleased with those results.

Saturday afternoon, the Buffs face the West Virginia Mountaineers in the hostile environment of Morgantown.

3 keys to Colorado pulling off a road victory in Morgantown.

Get of to a faster start

Colorado's habit of playing catchup in conference games is a luxury they simply can't afford anymore.

West Virginia's defense ranks second in the conference, allowing just 63.2 points per game (behind only Houston's 59.3), giving Colorado no easy opportunities.

Cincinnati's defense rattled Colorado, forcing 17 turnovers. The Buffs must protect the ball Saturday afternoon to have a fighting chance.

Contain Honor Huff

Huff leads the Mountaineers as their most reliable scorer, averaging 17.2 points 40.3% shooting from the field.`

With Huff scoring in double-figures in 14 of 17 games for the Mountaineers this season, you can almost guarantee he will be hunting for his shot against Colorado's defense.

His shot selection tends lead to poor efficiency, as shown by his 4-of-11 performance (2-of-9 from three) for 13 points in the Houston loss.

Starting lineup must deliver higher output

Despite not starting, Isaiah Johnson has established himself as Colorado's offensive cornerstone, powering the team with a leading 16.1 points per game.

Colorado needs more production from starters, particularly Sebastian Rancik who managed only five points in his 24 minutes versus Cincinnati.

Elijah Malone certainly belongs in this conversation. The big man struggled mightily in his last outing, managing a mere two points in 17 minutes while connecting on just one of his five attempts from the field.
