The Buffs kept the game within reach until the final two minutes of Tuesday night's contest, but dropped their fourth-straight conference game.
3 takeaways from Colorado’s fourth-straight conference loss.
Bank was open after hours
During the second half of Tuesday night's game, Darryn Peterson, the star player for the Jayhawks, made an impressive bank shot that essentially sunk Colorado’s hopes of a comeback.
With 2:09 remaining in the game, Peterson banked one in to put the Jayhawks up by nine, silencing the CU Events Center crowd.
Peterson wasn’t his normal self from the field, but he still managed to score 16 points on 6-of-15 shooting while adding six rebounds.
Kansas controlled the glass
Tre White was a problem for Colorado's defense, scoring 17 points on efficient 3-of-6 shooting.
His scoring wasn't the only thing that gave Colorado fits as the 6'7" guard hauled down 15 rebounds notching a double-double.
Kansas' starting five outrebounded Colorado's entire team, pulling down 42 rebounds compared to 33.
Kansas dominated the glass with a +12 rebounding advantage—a stat that won't sit well with head coach Tad Boyle in a closely contested game.
No help outside of Hargress and Johnson
Alon Michaeli gave Colorado a solid boost off the bench, scoring 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting and pulling down six rebounds in 28 minutes.
However, starters Bangot Dak and Sebastian Rancik were no-shows for the Buffs, combining to go 6-of-22 from the field with 14 points.
The Elijah Malone minutes remain tough to watch, as the veteran center went scoreless in just seven minutes of action.
Barrington Hargress and Isaiah Johnson kept Colorado afloat, with Hargress scoring 17 points and Johnson adding 19.
