UCF's leading scorer was a problem all game
Riley Kugel was one of the main players Colorado needed to keep an eye on all game, and he didn't disappoint.
UCF's senior guard came into the game averaging roughly 14.6 points per contest but exceeded that mark in Saturday afternoon's matchup.
Kugel was lights out from three-point range, draining 6-of-8 from downtown to lead all scorers with 22 points while pulling down four rebounds in the win.
Sebastian Rancik bounce back game
Colorado has been desperately needing production from sophomore forward Sebastian Rancik, who has averaged only nine points over Colorado's last four games.
Rancik was one of three Buffs to score 20 points in the loss, shooting 7-of-12 from the field. He also grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists, and recorded four steals.
Colorado guards Isaiah Johnson and Barrington Hargress also reached 20 points for the Buffs.
Rebounding continues to be a problem
Tad Boyle started center Elijah Malone on Saturday afternoon, though Malone logged just six minutes and grabbed one rebound.
UCF dominated the boards against Colorado's thin frontcourt, outrebounding the Buffaloes 32-23 and pulling down seven offensive rebounds.
Bangot Dak grabbed a team-high nine rebounds for Colorado.
Colorado shot well today, hitting 52 percent from the field and 55 percent from downtown (11-of-20). But they couldn't stop UCF, who torched them for 61 percent from the field and 63 percent from three (15-of-24).
