Andre Adams did not need a second visit.
The four star 2027 quarterback had options. Florida State. Kentucky. Virginia Tech. and others. But one trip to Boulder was enough to shift everything, even his timeline.
“Feel like that was the most genuine school I stepped foot in,” Adams told USA Today’s Joe Spears. “I was originally set for the 11th. I pushed back just for this reason. Took that visit to Colorado and I just knew from there…yeah, that’s the one.”
That conviction showed up quickly, and so did the buy in, because Adams is not just committed, he is already recruiting.
Shortly after announcing his decision, Adams reached out publicly to Jackson Roper, the No. 1 ranked player in Colorado for the 2027 class. That moment, small on the surface, carries real weight for a program that has faced criticism for not prioritizing in state talent under Deion Sanders.
This time, it feels different.
Adams stepping into that role early reflects a shift in tone around the program, one that feels more connected and more intentional about building relationships inside the state.
And it starts at the top. “You get to play for a Hall of Famer in coach Deion…it means a lot,” Adams told Spears. “Got some big, big shoes to fill. I’m willing to take on that role.”
That mindset, understanding the expectations while embracing them, is part of what makes Adams such an intriguing long term piece for Colorado’s quarterback room.
On the field, the production backs it up. Adams accounted for 4,273 total yards in 2025, throwing 35 touchdowns to just one interception. Efficiency like that reflects decision making and command, traits that translate well to the next level.
Off the field, he is already stepping into something else: responsibility. “Eyes on me,...everything I do, I got eyes on me. I got a role to play. People looking up to me. So I can’t stop. I got to succeed.”
That perspective also aligns with where Colorado appears to be heading entering this cycle.
The overall feel around the program is more stable and more present, especially on the recruiting trail. For a team that has faced questions about its approach to in state talent, moments like this stand out.
And Adams is stepping right into that version of it.
Colorado did not just land a quarterback. It landed someone already acting like the face of what comes next.
