Big 12 head coach predicts Shedeur Sanders to be first QB taken in 2025 NFL draft
K-State head coach Chris Klieman believes Shedeur Sanders will be the first QB taken in the 2025 NFL draft -- and raved about the Colorado star's ability to do everything a QB is supposed to be able to do at the next level.
“There’s a lot of concerns that we have” Klieman said of Shedeur. “Obviously go to the offensive side. And I think Sanders will be the first quarterback picked off the board. He should be. In the film that I’ve seen of a lot of the top guys, I think he’s an excellent thrower. You can’t really confuse him. I’ve seen a lot of different teams try to manipulate coverage in disguise, and he does a really good job pre snap to post snap, and he can make all the throws, and has a lot of guys to throw the football to.”
Sanders has improved his draft stock from his preseason projections exponentially. The Coloradoan's Scott Procter believes Shedeur's performance against Baylor in a 38-31 win made him a potential No. 1 overall NFL draft pick.
"Shedeur Sanders played the kind of game that the first pick of the NFL draft would play," Procter prefaced before saying, "It wasn't always pretty. He completed just 61% of his passes which was one of the lowest marks of his career, but Sanders made play after play to lead his team to victory. Despite being sacked a season-high eight times, the projected first-round NFL draft pick consistently evaded defenders and extended plays with success. He threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns, even rushing for another touchdown and gaining 68 yards on 11 rush attempts (taking out sack yardage). If there were any doubts about Sanders being the top quarterback selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, they should've been quelled on Saturday night."
Shedeur Sanders has had dream 2024 season
Shedeur was so good in 2023 that it would've been fair for many to assume he'd take a step back in his second go-round in Boulder. The complete opposite has happened for him and his Heisman candidate co-star Travis Hunter, though.
Colorado's stars are living up to the hype and then some.
The Buffs are making believers out of the doubters who thought they'd win fewer games than they already have. Not only are the stars getting the job done, but the trenches are holding and the secondary and RB room are proving that they aren't weak spots.
It's been a dream season for Shedeur so far. And it's been just as much a dream season for CU minus the Nebraska game.
