Deion Sanders cannot affect the NFL draft like he thinks he can. While Coach Prime has made claims that Shedeur Sanders won't go to certain franchises, Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry called his bluff as it pertains to his team.
In fact, Berry sweet-talked both Shedeur and Deion in a welcoming gesture ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.
"I don't anticipate that being a problem," Browns general manager Andrew Berry said, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
"Shedeur is a really impressive young man. He's poised, he's calm, he's smart and you can tell that he's been raised by—quite honestly—a Hall of Fame dad. We're going to get to know him even more over the course of the spring, but he's really impressive."
It's not hard to see where Berry would've gotten a contrary idea. Coach Prime made a bold claim on the Tamron Hall Show.
"It's not like that," Sanders said, per USA Today's Brent Schrotenboer. "It's not like who I would like for him to play for. It's a couple of teams that I won't allow him to play for. So it's not like that. But this is my profession. I know what's behind the curtain. We ain't got to get back there for me to understand what's behind the curtain and what's not prominent for my son. I'm not doing it."
Those words contradict what Sanders said in March of last year.
"All this is subjective because I know where I kind of want them to go," Sanders said, per Bleacher Report. "And let's not forget Shilo (Sanders). But I know where I want them to go. There's certain cities where it ain't going to happen. ...It's going to be an Eli [Manning]."
It remains to be seen how prominent Coach Prime's wishes will be in the NFL draft news cycle as April approaches, but the narrative has already changed drastically several times.
Stay tuned.
