Things went from bad to worse for Colorado on Saturday night. Following another disappointing loss that dropped the Buffs to 2-4 and 0-3 in the Big 12, Coach Prime spoke after the game and revealed another concerning health update.

Many noticed that for much of the game, Deion Sanders was walking around with only one shoe. He was even seen sitting down on the sideline at times. He was asked about in the postgame, and the answer was not what Colorado fans - or anyone - wanted to hear:

"I think I got more blood clots," Sanders told reporters after the game. "Cat's out of the bag, I think I got more blood clots. It don't make sense, I'm hurting like crazy. I got the doctor's appointment on Monday to see what time it is. That's what's going on. I'm not getting blood to my leg, that's why my leg is throbbing."

Coach Prime's health concerns overshadow Colorado's loss to TCU

Coach Prime has had continuous health issues over the last few years. He's battled blood clots, which ultimately led him to have several toes amputated a few years ago. Over the summer, he had a mysterious health problem that many attributed to continued issues with blood clots. Instead, Sanders revealed a bladder cancer diagnosis, which he had ultimately beaten. He was given a clean bill of health heading into the 2025 season and seemed excited to attack his ultimate goal of leading the Buffaloes to a championship.

Now, Coach Prime could be facing more health issues. Issues that make you quickly remember, no matter how disappointing Colorado's loss to TCU was, that it's just a game. A game that matters very little in the grand scheme of things.

Sanders' announcement immediately took precedence over another blown lead for the Buffs, rendering it a mere footnote to the evening in Fort Worth.

Coach Prime's health issues continue to stack up, raising the question of whether he would be better off stepping away from the program for a period of time to get things figured out. As much as Colorado fans want to see Sanders build a winner in Boulder, his long-term health is far more important than any finite happiness that may come from a successful football program.

Hopefully, Sanders gets better news on Monday from the doctor than he's clearly expecting. It would be unfortunate for him and his family to have to battle more issues so soon.
