CBS Sports' John Breech refused to shut down the rumor of Deion Sanders leaving Colorado to go coach for the Dallas Cowboys -- even though Coach Prime himself shut down the rumor during an appearance on FS1 speaking to Michael Irvin.

"This doesn't necessarily mean he's not interested, he might not just want to deal with any distractions right now," Breech wrote. "Sanders currently has Colorado sitting at 7-2 and if he said he was interested or even hinted at interest in the Cowboys job, that would create a distraction for the rest of the season for both the Cowboys and the Buffaloes.

"Deion is still coaching his son, Shedeur, who's just happens to the quarterback for the Buffaloes. Shedeur will be leaving after the 2024 season, though, and at that point, it wouldn't be completely crazy if Deion also decides to move on."

Deion Sanders-Dallas Cowboys rumor was created by hype, not substance

As Sports Illustrated's Kyle Koster pointed out, the Coach Prime-Cowboys rumor was one not created from some substantiative meeting or a plugged-in source; but from social media willing it into existence.

"There's a chicken-and-egg nature to all of this that's so interesting because it only takes a tiny sliver of momentum to Astroturf something into existence. Meaning that Jones could conceivably look around, see all these people who would be excited by Sanders coaching the Cowboys and then seriously consider the idea," Koster wrote.

"To his credit, Sanders has been focused on the task and hand and isn't breathing an ounce of life into this narrative. Yet at a point very soon it won't even matter what he has to say because once a juicy topic like this makes the round on television, it's so hard to put back into the tube. A year after Sanders was accused, perhaps rightly, of creating a circus at the expense of winning, one is being constructed all around him. Deion Sanders, Cowboys coach will more than likely never be a thing. But it already is a different type of thing in the media."

It's in the best interest for the media to not shut down Sanders going to the NFL. All of the mock scenarios will create content for days and galvanize fanbases that think they have a shot at "Prime Time" in their lives.

But Boulder is the only home Sanders as long as he's coaching. His longevity of even wanting to coach is the bigger question.
