Cleveland Browns GM calls Travis Hunter a football version of Shohei Ohtani

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry isn’t shying away from the Travis Hunter hype. With the NFL Draft just a week away, Berry told reporters Thursday that the Colorado star's versatility reminds him of none other than MLB sensation Shohei Ohtani.

“It’s a little bit like Ohtani, where when he’s playing one side, he’s an outstanding player,” Berry said. “You obviously get a unicorn if you use him both ways.”

Berry said the Browns are open to using Hunter in multiple roles but view him primarily as a wide receiver at the next level. Still, he didn’t rule out the possibility of the Heisman Trophy winner playing cornerback.

The Ohtani comparison may seem bold, but it fits. Just as Ohtani shattered expectations by thriving as both a pitcher and hitter, Hunter has proven he can flip the field and still dominate. Whether or not Cleveland pulls the trigger at No. 2 remains to be seen (I think they take either Cam Ward or Abdul Carter) but Andrew Berry made it clear: Travis Hunter is a freak draft prospect.
