Colorado doesn't have a commitment from a 2026 quarterback, but they are taking a big swing in the 2027 class.
It was always going to be difficult to get involved with the elite QBs in the 2026 class, thanks to signing Julian Lewis in 2025. Lewis is likely to start next season and the year after at least, which would force any QB who signed this year to sit for two years. It's getting more and more difficult to find recruits, particularly highly-rated ones, to sit on the bench for multiple seasons when so many programs are offering the same money with more playing time.
But Deion Sanders is hoping to land an elite signal-caller in the 2027 class. His focus has been on 5-star Kavian Bryant from Palestine, Texas, who ranks as the No. 2 QB and the No. 35 overall player in the 2027 class, per the 247 composite.
Bryant is in Boulder this weekend and will be at Folsom Field for tonight's game against BYU:

Kavian Bryant may be a long shot for Deion Sanders, Colorado
Bryant is in Boulder this weekend, just a couple of days after expert predictions started rolling in for the 5-star QB to commit to another school. Two national recruiting experts for Rivals logged predictions for Bryant to land with Texas Tech:

Coach Prime has some ground to make up with Bryant, with conference rival Texas Tech trending in his recruitment already. There's a long way to the finish line in the 2027 class, however, so even if he commits to the Red Raiders, we've seen Sanders flip plenty of recruits in the past. Few, if any, coaches are better at hosting visitors than Coach Prime, too, and the Folsom Field environment is frequently raucous for big games.
Texas Tech has made a significant investment in its football program and is spending money at a level that most programs can't. If it's a bidding war, the Red Raiders are going to be difficult to beat. Losing recruits because of money is the only way Colorado doesn't get who they want, according to Sanders.
You can't blame Coach Prime for taking a big swing; the Buffs have won quite a few recruiting battles where they weren't the highest bidder in the past. Julian Lewis is a perfect example of that.
