Coach Prime says Colorado is going to Utah this weekend to 'dominate'

Fresh off a bye week, there's renewed confidence in Boulder. For good reason, too, because right before the bye week, Colorado put together its most complete performance of the season in knocking off then-No. 22 Iowa State at Folsom.

Kaidon Salter looked like the quarterback Colorado thought it was going to get when he transferred from Liberty. At 3-4, the Buffaloes are still a long way off from where they hoped to be at this point in the season, but there's faith that the turnaround we saw two weeks ago against Iowa State is going to take.

Facing a Utah team that is difficult to deal with on the lines of scrimmage will be a tremendous task, but Deion Sanders is confident that his team is more than up for it. The Buffaloes aren't going to Salt Lake City just to compete, they're going to dominate.

"We played this team a year ago, and we were successful," Sanders told the media on Tuesday. "We believe. It's not like we're going into that game not believing we can win because we've done it. We're going to try our best to do it again with a greater margin. That's how we go about it. They're a good team, a well-coached team...We're going in there with one thing in mind: that's to come out and dominate."

Deion Sanders is confident that Colorado can beat Utah

Coach Prime is never short on confidence. You just don't usually hear him speak in terms of dominating an opponent before the game is played. At least not to the media. It's clear he's looking to inject some of that confidence into his team this week.

The Buffaloes are nearly two-touchdown underdogs this weekend. They need to believe they can win this football game, but most people don't believe it.

Coach Prime is right in saying that Colorado was successful playing Utah a year ago. Last season in Boulder, the Buffs dominated to the tune of a 49-24 win. These were different teams, obviously, with the Utes looking much more like a typical Kyle Whittingham team this season than the 5-7 team from 2024.

And this Colorado team, unfortunately, isn't on the same level as last season, either. But to think the Buffs have no shot of going into Rice-Eccles Stadium and winning the game would be a foolish line of thinking, especially with star Utah QB Devon Dampier's status being up in the air.
