Colorado's offense wasn't good enough last week in the 27-20 loss to Georgia Tech. Colorado fans know it. Coach Prime knows it, too.
The Buffs managed just 305 yards of total offense and failed to punish Georgia Tech for its early mistakes. The Yellow Jackets turned the ball over on three consecutive possessions to open the game, and Colorado responded with only a single touchdown to show for it. That came back to bite them in a seven-point home loss.
An offensive shakeup could be on its way.
Deion Sanders revealed in his media availability that freshman QB Julian Lewis will play against Delaware.
Coach Prime says Julian Lewis will play this week.

“He’s playing this week for sure. I know what I’m going to see.”
Coach Prime stopped short of saying he was going to start the game, so the expectation remains that Kaidon Salter will start for the second week in a row. But it's clear that Sanders wants more from his offense, and he thinks Lewis might be able to provide the spark the Buffs need.
Julian Lewis will have a big opportunity against Delaware
It seemed against Georgia Tech that OC Pat Shurmur didn't really know what to do with Salter. The game plan was a bit strange, and they didn't take advantage of his legs as much as they should've. There were also too many short passes and screens, and not enough pushing the ball down the field to the bevy of playmakers on the roster.
It's clear, based on Sanders' comments, that he places the blame on the team, not the coaching staff.
“We had the plays, we just didn’t make it happen," Sanders said. "We had several plays that we should have made happen. We didn’t. They did.”
Salter's lack of production and the stagnant offense last week should give Lewis a real opportunity to take hold of the job once he gets in the game this week. Even if Salter starts, it's clear that Lewis is going to be a significant part of the game plan.
The elite freshman was one of the top quarterbacks in the country in the 2025 recruiting class. He's the future face of the program, and could be the present as well.
Lewis made it a legitimate competition in spring and fall camp with the veteran Salter. Salter won the job and started the season opener, but Colorado certainly needs more out of its offense this week and moving forward in order to reach its goals.
