If you thought you knew what this Colorado Buffaloes offense was going to do tonight, you were probably dead wrong.
Right now, on this electric Saturday night at Folsom Field, Coach Prime and Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur came out firing, and it’s all thanks to the man nobody saw coming: wide receiver, now Wildcat quarterback, Dre’Lon Miller.
At halftime, the Buffs lead 14-10 over the No. 25 BYU Cougars.
This is an absolute statement. It’s been a punch-you-in-the-mouth start that we have been desperate to see this season, especially with that bitter Alamo Bowl loss from last December still stinging.
The play that has everybody out of their seats—the one that has BYU's defense looking completely lost—is the Dre'Lon Miller Wildcat.

The Buffs jumped out to a stunning 14-0 lead on two short rushing touchdowns—one from Kaidon Salter, the other from Miller—a beautiful, physical start none of us saw coming.
But BYU, a ranked team for a reason, is now showing its teeth, scoring 10 unanswered points to cut our lead to 14-10 right at the half.
The Buffs are still winning the ground game (120 yards to 79), but the Wildcat wizardry has been stifled since the first quarter. Miller, who was the key to our early success, still sits at 4 carries for 37 yards and a touchdown.
Salter has been fantastic in terms of efficiency (6/7, 60 yards), but we need more vertical throws down field. Salter needs to find the guys who can break the game open, like Joseph Williams (2 catches, 24 yards) or Omarion Miller (1 catch, 19 yards).
On the defensive side, we have to find a way to pressure Bachmeier, who is showing the poise of a seasoned veteran, especially on that last 94-yard drive.
Colorado has to re-establish that rushing attack coming out of the locker room. The Cougars were able to take back the momentum and we need a halftime adjustment.
And we need it fast.
