In the world of men's college basketball, Colorado has been one of the more pleasant surprises and people are starting to take notice.

Colorado currently ranks 46th in NCAA.com's NET Rankings, which is one of the main components the NCAA selection committee will use when selecting the tournament field in March. As of right now, the Buffs would likely slot in on the right side of the bubble.

Colorado earned a very important win over Washington last Friday in the Acrisure Holiday Classic. Not only were they named champions of that tournament, they picked up a Quad 2 win in the process.

It's Colorado's best start since the 2019-20 season (7-0), when players such as McKinley Wright, Tyler Bey, Evan Battey, and D'Shawn Schwartz led the team.

They ended up finishing 5th in the Pac-12 with a 21-11, 10-8 record.

Colorado was a much more experienced team then opposed to now, but Tad Boyle certainly has his youthful team on the right path.

Youthful exuberance leading Colorado basketball to best start in six years

Despite their youth, Colorado has been a problem on the offensive end for opposing teams, mainly due to the depth they possess. The team has scored 632 points through seven games, which is good for 90.3 points per contest.

That puts them 31st in the country.

Defending is another matter, and I'm sure Boyle and his staff have been emphasizing that. Despite ranking 266th in points allowed per game at 77.9, Colorado is putting the ball in the basket and that’s all that matters at this point.

I’m sure the defense has been prioritized by Boyle and company, and I believe they will only improve from here on out.

You can’t help but be impressed where Colorado stands at this point, especially after what transpired last year. The Buffs have two important games coming up with California Baptist tonight, and on the road at Colorado State Saturday afternoon.
