This is the kind of additional that will win football games in November.

Colorado just landed one of the bigger gets in the spring portal — literally and figuratively — in former Memphis offensive lineman Xavier Hill. The 6-foot-4, 330-pound All-AAC mauler announced his commitment over the weekend, and if you’ve been paying attention, this is exactly what Coach Prime needed.

Let’s talk facts. In 2024, Colorado finished dead last in the Big 12 in rushing at just 65.2 yards per game. The Buffs also gave up 39 sacks — most in the conference. The Buffaloes focus on blocking tight ends and offensive line has been instrumental in seeing what they are focusing on .

Enter Hill. He’s not just a body. He’s a technician with SEC roots (started his career at LSU) and 20+ career starts at multiple positions. Yeah, he finished the season at right tackle for Memphis, but his old OL coach made it clear: his best position is inside. Think nasty, downhill, road-grading interior lineman. That’s what Colorado's been missing.

Hill brings leadership, grit, and legit NFL tools. And with one year to play, he’s coming to Boulder to start — not to rotate.

Coach Prime just fixed a huge problem on the offensive line in one weekend. This isn’t just a nice pickup. This is the type of addition that will give Juju Lewis or Kaiden Slater more time in the pocket — and gives the Buffs a shot at winning games late in the season in Year 3 under Coach Prime.
