UC Riverside guard Barrington Hargress is transferring to Colorado, and it’s hard to overstate how big this pickup could be. Hargress isn’t just another name from the portal—he was a top guy in the Big West last year, earning First-Team All-Conference honors and averaging 20.2 points and 4.0 assists per game.

If you need a taste of what he brings to the table, go look up the 40-point game he dropped on UC San Diego. Or the 31 he scored beating the Mountain West champions Colorado State.
At six feet tall, Hargress isn’t the biggest guard, but he plays like he’s got something to prove every night. He’s shifty and plays with confidence. He’s also efficient—turning the ball over less than twice per game.
With RJ Smith transferring out and a young backcourt set to return, Colorado needed an experienced leader. Hargress is now the most seasoned player on the roster, and he’s only a sophomore. He’s already played over 2,000 college minutes, starting 64 of 68 games at UC Riverside.
Tad Boyle has four scholarships left to work with, but adding Hargress might be the most important piece of the offseason.
