Another one bites the dust in Boulder.

Safety Savion Riley has officially hit the transfer portal, and while this move might not make national headlines, it’s definitely worth talking about.

Riley wasn’t a star. But man, he was solid. After transferring in from Vanderbilt (and a brief flirtation with Miami), he came in, kept his head down, and worked. He played in nine games for the Buffs in 2024—most notably stepping up with seven tackles in that gritty Week 1 win over North Dakota State when Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig went down.

Those are the kind of moments that tell you about a player’s heart. He didn’t complain, he didn’t cause drama. He just filled in and did his job.

Twelve tackles, 85 snaps on special teams, 77 on defense. Those numbers might not scream NFL, but they show a dude who contributed and stepped up in the areas that can decipher whether a team wins or loses.

Riley has two years of eligibility left, and yeah, it’s a crowded safety room right now. With incoming guys like Antonio Branch and Coach Prime keeping his foot on the gas in the portal, Riley probably saw the writing on the wall.

Still, it’s tough to see a guy like that leave. A worker. A good teammate. One of those glue guys that every team needs.

All love to Savion. Wherever he lands, that team’s getting someone who can play and who knows how to be ready when his number’s called.
