Colorado can achieve something special with a win against Kansas State tonight

The last time Colorado reached this feat was all the way back in 2009-10 season

In the 2009-10 season, the Colorado Buffaloes last achieved this feat, doubling their conference win total from one to six under Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik.

It also helps when you have players such as Cory Higgins and Alec Burks on your team

Under Tad Boyle, the team's conference win total rose from 8 to 13 between the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, a +5 win margin.

Tad has faced challenges before, but none as daunting as last season, when he had to completely rebuild the team from the bottom up after losing three NBA draft picks.

Colorado is a win away from doubling its conference win total from last season

The talent in the Big 12 is significantly more impressive than what they faced in the Pac-12, and that’s not a knock on the conference at all.

There are essentially no nights off, and they've learned that the hard way

The team had an impressive start to the nonconference season, highlighted by neutral-site wins against San Francisco and Washington (Steinbach out). However, a home loss to Northern Colorado raised some concerns.

The Buffs began conference play with two straight wins against ASU and Utah, but then lost six in a row against ranked opponents such as Texas Tech, Kansas, and Iowa State.

Since then, Colorado has a 3-3 record after improving its performance, including a close overtime loss against BYU in Provo.

Colorado is favored by -7.5 points tonight at home by various sports books, which could signal their sixth conference win against a Kansas State team with only two.

Colorado will rely on true freshman guard Isaiah Johnson and backcourt running mate Barrington Hargress to set the tone and pace.

It will be interesting to see Boyle's front court rotations, as rebounding and physicality have been their primary weaknesses this season.
