Colorado football alum sends doubtful message on one of Matt Rhule's position groups
Ex-Colorado football QB-turned-Fox Sports host Joel Klatt has doubts about Nebraska's receiving corps -- claiming that Dylan Raiola's weapons leave a bit to be desired. Klatt doesn't certainly think Raiola lacks much, however.
"The biggest improvement ... for Nebraska is certainly on the offensive side and it certainly lies in the hands of their quarterback - true freshman Dylan Raiola," Klatt said on the "Joel Klatt Show" (h/t On SI) "This guy is incredibly talented. I'm telling you. I knew he was just from watching games, but then you go and you watch the tape. He jumps off the tape.
"They've got a couple of guys they can throw to, but nothing that jumps, or pops, or scares you as a defense. I think that's really the only thing that's really holding back this offense. Isaiah Neyor is a pretty good player on the outside. They've got decent players on the outside - but not a real threat. If Raiola ever got a threat, this Nebraska team would be incredible."
Nebraska only had 185 yards against Colorado, so Klatt would know firsthand just how lackluster the Huskers' WR room has been. Nebraska's RB room almost outgained the passing game in Week 2, though.
Those are the perks of having Travis Hunter in your secondary. Among others. Of note, Shilo Sanders was lost to a forearm injury this game. Not much went right for the Buffs.
Nebraska knocking on the door of being ranked
The Huskers have one ranked loss to Illinois that can look better if the Illini upset Michigan in Week 8. Before long, Big Red could be a ranked team.
It's too bad CU played them before the country learned who they were: a physical team with a phenom QB under center.
