Colorado football ranked insultingly low on 247 Sports’ 2025 Big 12 standings projection

I get Colorado football hasn’t exactly met expectations most of the last decade, but this may be pushing it.

247 Sports’ Cody Nagel released his way-too-early power rankings for the Big 12, and Colorado stood at No. 10.

“Deion Sanders has coached his sons since high school, so how will the Colorado head man adapt without Shedeur Sanders, Shilo Sanders and, more importantly, Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter no longer on the roster in 2025? That is one of the top questions in the entire Big 12 as the page turns to next season. The Buffaloes own the No. 2 transfer portal haul in the Big 12 with former Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter among the top newcomers. He expects to compete with Top247 true freshman Julian Lewis for the starting job. Deion Sanders does not appear to be in a rush to leave Colorado despite hearing from Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones about the vacant head coach position in the NFL," Nagel wrote.

Admittedly, I’m confused. Sure, losing a Heisman winner and a top-10 Heisman candidate is a big blow, but with the second-best transfer portal haul in the country -- and top freshman QB Julian Lewis or Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter to replace Shedeur -- surely it’s not enough to warrant the Buffs falling below the 5-7 Baylor Bears and Utah Utes.

Whatever the case, it’s clear speculation will fly about Coach Prime’s squad no matter what, and it’ll be up to the Buffs to silence the doubters in this upcoming season.

I suppose whether Deion Sanders is there or not.
