Treysen Eaglestaff might not be a household name just yet, but the former North Dakota guard is quickly becoming one of the hottest players in the transfer portal. After an impressive junior season where he averaged 18.9 points per game—including a jaw-dropping 40-point performance against Alabama—Eaglestaff has caught the attention of some of the biggest programs in college basketball.

Colorado is among the many schools vying for his commitment, joining a loaded list that includes bluebloods like Kentucky, Kansas, and UCLA. The Buffaloes are coming off a strong finish to the season and could use a scoring boost, especially with key departures looming. Eaglestaff’s ability to shoot the three and create his own shot makes him an intriguing target for Tad Boyle.

Eaglestaff has shown steady improvement since his freshman year at North Dakota. During the 2022-23 season, he played in all 33 games, making 11 starts and averaging 8.4 points per game. He was a consistent perimeter threat, knocking down 57 three-pointers at a 37.5% clip, including a season-high five in three different games. His strong close to the season, where he scored in double figures in six straight games, showcased his potential as a go-to scorer.

Landing Eaglestaff won’t be easy. Programs like Gonzaga and Villanova offer strong player development pipelines, and SEC schools are throwing their hats in the ring as well. However, Colorado’s recent success and its ability to showcase guards on a national stage should give the Buffs a fighting chance.
