According to Rivals.com, 2027 4-star cornerback Dolph McDonald has decommitted from the University of Colorado.

McDonald originally committed to Colorado on December 6th after former Sacramento State head coach Brennan Marion accepted Colorado's offensive coordinator position.

McDonald was Colorado's only commit in the 2027 class

McDonald initially chose the Buffs over programs like Auburn, Michigan, Florida State, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

He thanked Marion via his X account for giving him the opportunity to play at CU, but said he'll keep them in consideration despite the decommitment.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is the brother of Colorado wide receiver Xavier McDonald.

"“Being able to play with my brother on the next level has always been our goal,” McDonald told Rivals’ Adam Gorney earlier this week. “Colorado adding Coach Marion helped with the decision.”"

You'd hope this decision doesn't prompt his brother to follow suit, especially with signing day just around the corner on Feb. 4th.

The Morton, Mississippi native recorded five interceptions during his junior season this past year, returning three of them for touchdowns. Even more impressive: he's racked up 15 interceptions over 30 varsity games.

He's viewed as a jack of all trades, having played running back, receiver, punt returner, and kick returner.
