Boo Carter experienced a challenging 2025 season at the University of Tennessee, marked by missed offseason workouts and an absence from the game against New Mexico State, ultimately resulting in his departure from the program.

After a shaky relationship with the previous coaching staff, he's now with Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, aiming to overcome those issues and demonstrate his true potential as a player.

Carter earned SEC All-Freshman honors during his freshman season in 2024. While he didn't see as much playing time as he'd hoped this past season, he still contributed with 25 tackles in nine games.

Boo has made a strong impression on fans and coaches, as evidenced by clips on Deion Sanders Jr.'s "Well-Off" YouTube channel.

He has even caught the attention of a former NFL safety now on Coach Prime's staff.

That former NFL player is Vonn Bell, who played nine seasons in the NFL from 2016 to 2024 with the New Orleans Saints, Cincinnati Bengals, and Carolina Panthers.

Selected in the second round (61st overall) out of Ohio State in the 2016 NFL Draft, Bell amassed 760 tackles, 16 forced fumbles, 12 fumble recoveries, 8 interceptions, and 9.5 sacks across 139 games throughout his career.

That's some high praise coming from someone who's played alongside some of the league's best, including Cameron Jordan, D.J. Reader, Trey Hendrickson, and Jessie Bates III, to name a few.

This is a crucial "prove it" year for Carter, as he aims to play in the NFL next season, as highlighted in a Well-Off video.

He's been mentioned as one of the many standouts on the defensive side of the ball during spring practices, including Cree Thomas and Naeten Mitchell, to name a few.

Carter will look to lead a revamped defensive unit that aims to propel Colorado back into bowl contention in 2026, following a disappointing 3-9 2025 campaign.
