Colorado Buffaloes running back coach Johnnie Mack posted a photo Sunday of his position group's Super Bowl LX watch party for the Seahawks-Patriots matchup.

They watched on as former Buffs tight end Brady Russell (2017-2022) won his first Super Bowl trophy in a 29-13 victory over the Patriots.

In the photo, one player on the far right immediately stood out.

Alabama transfer running back Richard Young

After three seasons at Alabama where he tallied 247 yards and five touchdowns across 61 touches, Young sought a bigger opportunity and transferred to Colorado, ready to take on a more prominent role.

Young brings something a little different to the backfield. At 5-foot-11 and 212 pounds, he towers over returning runners Micah Welch and Dekalon Taylor, who both check in at 5-foot-9.

It's a new dimension for a running back room that's been built around smaller, quicker backs.

The Alabama transfer will bolster short-yardage and goal-line situations after the team lost Dallan Hayden (Memphis), Simeon Price (Oregon), and WR/RB hybrid Dre'lon Miller (Baylor) to the portal.

The new offensive coordinator Brennan Marion, formerly Sacramento State's head coach, brought over RBs Damian Henderson II and Jaquail Smith who are both familiar with his scheme. They'll add competition to the position group when spring practices begin.

This position group's strength is depth in numbers, and they can rotate players and stay fresh instead of relying on one workhorse.
