While Colorado has faltered throughout conference play, head coach Tad Boyle has identified a dependable player he can turn to and rely on for consistent play.

With Julian Hammond graduating and RJ Smith departing, Tad needed to find a reliable guard who could step in and run the Buffs' offense, especially with the abundance of incoming freshmen.

One freshman who has exceeded expectations is Isaiah Johnson. Colorado knew they had found a diamond in the rough when he committed to Boulder, and the true freshman is currently 17th in the Big 12, averaging 16.5 points per game.

Enter Barrington Hargress, the UC Riverside transfer who has teamed with Johnson to create a formidable backcourt.

Hargress earned first-team All-Big West honors last season, averaging 20.2 points on 44% shooting from the field and 33% from beyond the arc.

Though his field goal attempts have dropped by nearly six per game, Hargress is posting career highs in both field goal percentage (54.4%) and three-point percentage (50.0%).

Hargress is averaging 14.1 points per game, which ranks 24th among Big 12 players.

What's even more impressive is that the six-foot guard has reached double figures in all but two conference games.

Sitting at a 4-9 Big 12 record, Colorado has five regular season games remaining.

Barrington has shown his UC Riverside scoring ability in flashes this season, posting 20+ points in four games. His latest performance came in the team's 90-86 overtime loss to BYU in Provo this past weekend.

He logged a season-high 41 minutes, scoring 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting (4-of-6 from three) with five rebounds, four assists, and a steal.

Hargress has been Mr. Dependable running this offense. He will have one year remaining year of eligibility after this season concludes, ensuring Colorado another season of reliable point guard play.
