Despite a 3-7 record and bowl eligibility no longer a possibility, there's still plenty of excitement in Boulder surrounding tonight's matchup against Arizona State. It's the final home game of the season, but most importantly for the fans it's the first opportunity to see Julian Lewis start at Folsom.

Lewis made his starting debut two weeks ago on the road against West Virginia, showing plenty of promise despite Colorado's third consecutive loss. The Buffs were competitive, at least, falling only by a touchdown after getting blown out by Utah and Arizona in the two previous weeks.

Colorado fans could use some positivity on the football field. There hasn't been a ton off of it. The 2026 recruiting class has been hemorrhaging recruits the last couple of weeks, with three decommitments taking Deion Sanders' class down to just 10 total pledges and barely inside the Top 100.

Coach Prime despearately needs to stop the bleeding on and off the field. A win over 25th-ranked Arizona State can't change the direction of a season that has already crashed and burned, but it can provide a tiny ray of sunshine through the dark clouds that have been surrounding this program throughout 2025.

Final prediction for Colorado vs. Arizona State

The oddsmakers don't have much faith in Colorado, even on their home field, against Arizona State. It's hard to have much faith in the Buffs right now following three straight dispiriting losses. But the team showed some fight two weeks ago against West Virginia. They haven't quit, though they had every reason to.

Maybe I'm a fool. But I think Lewis is a culture-changer at QB. He's a talented kid, and with an extra week of preparation, he should be ready to light up the Arizona State defense.

I'll take Colorado in a close game, with Lewis coming up with some clutch plays in the fourth quarter to lift the Buffs to a cathartic upset.

Pick: Colorado 27, Arizona State 25
