The biggest question mark heading into the 2026 season has little to do with the offense, considering Colorado is high on redshirt freshman Julian Lewis and his ability to lead the team.

With newly acquired offensive coordinator Brennan Marion and his high-octane 'Go-Go' offense, Colorado could become a real threat in the Big 12.

Instead, it's how well this completely revamped defensive unit can perform compared to last year's squad.

Colorado learned that defensive coordinator Rob Livingston would take the Denver Broncos' vacant defensive pass game coordinator position, giving Deion Sanders the chance to elevate Chris Marve to the DC role after he spent a year coaching the linebackers.

Marve has made quite the impression, drawing rave reviews from fans on X (formerly Twitter) with clips from outlets like Well Off Media and Darius Sanders.

He's brought a different kind of energy that the Buffs have desperately needed.

Colorado Transfer WR Kam Perry thinks the Buffs defense could be elite

That's high praise from the receiver who earned All-MAC First Team honors with 43 catches for 976 yards and six touchdowns.

Here's another clip of Perry going up against one of Colorado's most coveted incoming portal transfers, Boo Carter.

Defensive line was a major need for the Buffs, and they added some studs up front like Santana Hopper and Ezra Christensen, but I'm most excited about the linebacker corps with Gideon Lampron, Liona Lefau, and Tyler Martinez. That's a trio of guys who can help younger players like Carson Crawford and Rodney Colton Jr. develop behind them.
