It’s been over a decade, but the Kansas Jayhawks are finally back in Boulder, and you can bet the CU Events Center will be rocking. The last time these two teams met in Boulder, Askia Booker called game with an unforgettable deep three at the buzzer, sending Buffs Nation into a frenzy. Now, with a sold-out crowd expected, Tad Boyle’s squad has a chance to make another statement against one of college basketball’s blue bloods.

The Jayhawks roll into Boulder as the heavy favorite, but history—and altitude—suggests they shouldn’t get too comfortable. Kansas has struggled on the road this season, and playing at 5,430 feet in front of a raucous CU crowd might just be the perfect storm for another Buffs upset.

Colorado’s head coach, Tad Boyle, who has deep ties to Kansas as both an alum and former player, will be bringing every bit of passion to this game. With the energy in the air and the importance of this matchup, it’s safe to say this is a big game for the Buffs.

This is also a special matchup for CU’s assistant coach Danny Manning, a Kansas legend and the school’s all-time leading scorer. Manning, who led the Jayhawks to national prominence in the late 80s, knows the importance of this game and will be eager to see his team compete fiercely against his alma mater.

The last time these two teams met on the court, the Jayhawks came away with a 71-59 win in the Allen Fieldhouse on February 11.

For the Buffs, this is a crucial opportunity to gain some confidence and continue building momentum heading into the final stretch of the season. The energy in the Events Center will be electric, and while Kansas brings plenty of star power, the Buffs have a chance to make history and add another iconic moment to the already legendary rivalry.
