For the second season in a row, Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes have lost their leading rusher for the season before. After the 2023 season, Sanders lost leading freshman rusher Dylan Edwards chose to return home to Kansas to play for the Kansas State Wildcats and with his childhood best friend, Avery Johnson.

Now this season, the Buffaloes are hit again in the rushing department as Isaiah Augustave is no longer with the program according to DNVR.

Colorado loses Isaiah Augustave, their leading rusher from last season

Augustave is no longer with the team, but Colorado has not commented on the reason why the leading rusher for the Buffaloes has left. There is no indication that he has entered the transfer portal, so he could have either been dismissed from the team or chosen to step away from the sports, but the real reason is unknown and may never be known.

After spending his freshman season at Arkansas with only 202 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown, Augustave chose to join Sanders in Boulder and, with Edwards gone, was given a shot at the commitment backfield.

In his only season with the Buffaloes, Augustave ran for 384 yards and four rushing touchdowns and had just 62 receiving yards. With Sheduear Sanders as their quarterback, Colorado was not running the ball as much. However, the offensive line was much this season, giving Sanders and the running backs more time to work.

Now, with Augustave gone and Sanders not doing a lot in the transfer portal, the running backs left on the roster for the Buffaloes include Junior Dallan Hayden, redshirt freshman Brandon Hood, sophomore Micah Welch, redshirt freshman Titus Bautista, and senior Charlie Offerdahl.

Sanders will most likely go with a committee backfield yet again next season unless one running back chooses to emerge as a star.
