Deion Sanders is not leaving Colorado. He has clarified that several times. Yet, the rumors don't go away.
So this time, Sanders pulled an ultimatum. He addressed his contract extension talks with Colorado, leaving no room for further possibilities.
“We’re trying to work something out here, as you speak,” Sanders said on The Rich Eisen Show, per Athlon Sports.
“I’m not going to lie about that, as you speak. I have one of the best AD’s in the country, Rick George, and I'm confident that we are going to get something done."
However, don't get the hopes too high. Coach Prime has just hinted at an extension, not announced it, Room for revisions and further developments do exist.
Coach Prime looked confident when concluding that all the behind-the-scenes brewing up would get "something done."
Sanders's current contract with the University of Colorado Boulder runs until 2027, according to the five-year, $29.5 million contract signed in 2023.
According to BetBGM, Sanders's contract "calls for a renegotiation period, especially after Year 3."
That's due next season. Until then, chances are Sanders and Colorado would have already signed an extension, according to the confident speech of the Buffs head coach.
Sanders has no plans to leave Boulder. It doesn't matter who believes that. Nothing matters until Coach Prime makes a decision either way.
The rumors will happen regardless.
If Coach Prime is NFL-bound, it'd be a shock. All we could do was wait for the Alamo Bowl to come and go before everything changed in Boulder.
There's an air-tight narrative in Colorado. We won't know anything until December 28 at earliest.
It's Alamo Bowl first and foremost.
