Deion Sanders still hasn't won a bowl game in his coaching career. As the rumor goes, he ran out of NIL by the time the Alamo Bowl came around and he didn't have the money to pay for players -- possibly because of the insurance policy he handed his son Shedeur and Travis Hunter in case of an injury.

That isn't going to satisfy Sanders for long.

As Athlon Sports' Steve Corder relayed, Coach Prime has become a candidate for other jobs in college football and the NFL after a 9-4 finish to the 2024 season.

"Additionally, Sanders’ success at Colorado has reportedly positioned him as a candidate for larger Power 4 programs or even NFL coaching jobs. If Colorado cannot secure the NIL funding and resources necessary to compete at the highest level, Sanders could see greener pastures elsewhere," Corder wrote.

"Whether Sanders stays or goes, Colorado faces a crucial crossroads. If he remains, the program must address its financial and organizational limitations to retain top talent. If he leaves, the Buffaloes must capitalize on the momentum Sanders created to build a sustainable future."

The Blaze's Jason Whitlock claims he heard from industry insiders that Sanders is actively plotting his exit from Boulder.

"According to someone who should know the ingredients, the situation is ripe, and it is right for Deion Sanders to exit Colorado after its 36-14 Alamo Bowl loss to BYU," Whitlock said. "This isn't a prediction. It's not someone saying it's going to happen. It's someone who is in the know that's followed the program real closely and says, 'Hey, I think the tea leaves are pointing towards Deion leaving Colorado.'

"And this person told me this, because, going into the Alamo Bowl, Colorado was out of NIL money. Just doesnt have the budget for what Deion was doing."

The Alamo Bowl changed a lot. How flat Colorado came out may have opened up pandora's box.

Coach Prime's departure as the Buffs' head coach may be what comes out.
