Deion Sanders, Cowboys job getting more realistic by the day: Jerry Jones “enamored”

And just like that, the potential of Deion Sanders coaching the Cowboys became less of a joke and more of a reality.

Thursday, Ed Werder, an ex-ESPN analyst and trusted source, tweeted that he's "being told that [Sanders] would almost certainly accept if Jerry Jones offers to make him the next Cowboys head coach, that those around him are encouraging him to pursue it and that Jones is enamored with the idea.”

For a long time, it certainly seemed like the idea of Jerry Jones and Sanders actually seeing this idea through was more just for media attention, but the more news that comes out, the easier it’s getting to believe that this may actually happen.

Users on X had a lot to say on this idea. One fan went as far as to say that “Prime is only smart to do this if he forces Jerry out of his GM power. No way he allows Jerry do what he has done with previous coaches. Prime will want complete control of that team.”

This, though not entirely misaligned with Coach Prime’s standard practices, doesn’t exactly follow. For one, Jones is being described as “enamored” with the idea of Sanders making a grand return to the Cowboys -- and if we know anything about Jones, he’ll likely give Sanders a marginal amount of power.

Whatever the case, both Cowboys and Buffs fans are soon going to have to face the music (if they haven’t already): Deion Sanders may be a Cowboys head coach before too long.
