Deion Sanders has already proven he can pull an elite quarterback to Colorado. In the 2025 cycle, Coach Prime landed Julian Lewis, a Top-50 overall recruit in the composite, who had offers from all over. Lewis has immediately paid dividends, and his pushing senior QB Kaidon Salter for the starting job. Regardless of whether or not he starts this year, Lewis is the future of the program and is likely to be the starter for the Buffaloes in 2026 and 2027.

It's never too early to plan for beyond that, however, and while finding an elite QB in the 2026 class won't be easy with the presence of Lewis on the roster, Sanders has turned his attention toward the 2027 class in hopes of finding the guy who will eventually take the torch from Lewis.

On Sunday, Colorado extended an offer to 5-star QB Kavian Bryant, who is ranked as the No. 35 overall player in the 247 composite:

Bryant is a Texas native who currently holds offers from 25 programs, including Texas, Michigan, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Oregon, Texas A&M, and Tennessee. His recruitment will be hotly contested, but with the Buffaloes struggling to find a footing in the 2026 cycle, Coach Prime will be looking to make an even bigger push in the 2027 class.

Kavian Bryant is an elite prospect who would be a game-changer for Colorado

Though Bryant is already ranked highly, he might actually be underrated at this point. He's a dual-threat QB - and multi-sport star - and could just be scratching the surface of what he can become as a signal-caller.

His numbers during his sophomore season at Palestine Westwood are straight out of a video game.

Bryant completed 82% of his passes for 2442 yards and 34 touchdowns to only three interceptions. He added 709 rushing yards and 11 more touchdowns on the ground while averaging over 12 yards per carry.

Bryant is an elite prospect with as high a ceiling as any player in his class. He would be a huge win for Sanders in the 2027 cycle and is the type of prospect you can build your entire recruiting class around. He's nowhere close to making a decision, but Coach Prime is likely to put the full-court press on Bryant in hopes of pushing for an early commitment that leads to other recruits around the country wanting to follow him to Boulder.
