Questions have swirled about Deion Sanders' health as a mysterious ailment has kept him away from the Colorado football team for the last few months.
His absence has seemingly stalled progress on the 2026 recruiting class, as Colorado is severely lagging behind at the moment despite a recent commitment from a priority target. There's still plenty of time to make up ground, but Sanders has a lot of work to do.
It was inevitable that he would be asked about in Frisco on Wednesday, as he appeared at Big 12 Media Days.
But the Buffaloes' head man had no interest in talking about it. Or, at least not to The Athletic.
The Athletic's David Ubben first asked the question about Sanders' health and what a typical day has been like for him on his ranch in the past couple of months. Sanders quickly shut the question down:
"Athletic, sometimes ya'll be on that bulljunk so I'm really not gonna tell you much," said Sanders. He continued: "I'm not here to talk about my health, I'm here to talk about my team."
When Ubben pressed about an average day for Sanders, Coach Prime replied: "I'm looking good. I'm living lovely."

Deion Sanders being at odds with the media is nothing new
The exchange between Sanders and Ubben is awkward, no doubt, but it's nothing new for the boisterous head coach.
This isn't the first time in his tenure at Colorado, or in previous places in his career, that Coach Prime has been at odds with a media member or entire outlet.
A year ago, Sanders refused to answer questions from CBS and the Denver Post. He called CBS "foul" and insinuated that Denver Post reporter Sean Keeler didn't like his program and wouldn't answer his question until he explained why.
Clashing with the media is nothing new for Sanders. He picks his moments to do so in order to turn the attention away from things he doesn't want to talk about. Now, instead of his health, the story becomes him calling out Ubben and The Athletic.
It's unknown what Sanders' beef is with The Athletic, and what "bulljunk" he might be referring to. But what is known is that questions about Sanders' health and his ability to coach the Buffaloes this season will continue to persist until he addresses the concerns, or he leads his team onto the field against Georgia Tech in August. Whichever comes first.
