Deion Sanders plans on making Shedeur Sanders the next Eli Manning at the 2025 NFL draft, but unlike Archie Manning's public display of dissatisfaction with the then-San Diego Chargers taking his son, Coach Prime is going to make his son "be an Eli" in private.
"Yeah, but I'm not going do it publicly," Sanders said Tuesday on "Speak" with Keyshawn Johnson. "I'll do it privately."
When asked what he's looking for in an NFL situation for the "Grown QB," Deion had reasonable demands.
"Somebody that can handle the quarterback that he is. Somebody that can handle understanding what he's capable of," Sanders said (h/t 247 Sports). "Someone that has had success in the past handling quarterbacks or someone in an organization understands what they're doing, not just throwing you out there amongst the world (and) you don't have the support in the infrastructure of the team. Forget the line. He's played with lines that aren't great but he's been able to do his thing."
While Sanders has previously made weird demands about cold-weather cities -- he may have forgotten he coaches his sons in Boulder, Colorado -- that didn't seem to be the case when he was asked again.
Deion Sanders should've never made Shedeur Sanders demands go public
In hindsight, Sanders may want a mulligan for announcing his intentions to be involved with Shedeur's NFL draft affairs publicly. Coach Prime could've swept it under the rug and kept it an internal affair, but "Prime Time" tends to play out in public.
Ultimately, Shedeur will play for a better team because his father is looking out for him and has the power to get him there. Not every player has that advantage entering the pro ranks.
The perks of "Prime Time" in action, if you will.
